With over 30 years of experience leading teams and supporting boards in international medical associations, I have dedicated my career to aligning organizational Missions and Values with their strategies. I have held prominent leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and CEO of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). At EBMT, I guided the organization to successfully integrate the management of major events, including an Annual Congress for 6,000 members, a yearly event for 1,000 attendees, and eight smaller gatherings of 200-300 participants each over the past decade. During the COVID crisis, we implemented a digital transformation by creating an e-learning platform to host all our training programs. Simultaneously, we improved governance, transparency, and accountability for our 6,000-member network and 600 associated centers.

Experiences

Talent and inclusion: upskilling and future capabilities, more accessible events and diverse participation.

In my role as Executive Director, I successfully initiated and led efforts to enhance equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). These efforts included launching a comprehensive EDI strategy that resulted in significant milestones: 80% of leadership roles within the organization were held by women, and the representation of nationalities increased from 10 to over 30.One of my proudest achievements was seeing the society led by both a female President and myself as Executive Director when I concluded my tenure.

Other experiences

Currently, I collaborate with EDUCO on implementing their Leadership Model focused on child-centered approaches. Additionally, I serve as a board member for the Foundation for Peace and ADA/Món Adivasi, reaffirming my commitment to social and humanitarian causes.
